Indonesia have preparing a program called ?Visit Indonesia Year 2008? to attract tourism, but it seem they facing some problem in their preparations (Hopes its not big matter) read this :

Visit Indonesia Year 2008 is a second program of government. Which, the first program was not successful in 1991. Not just kidding government target to achieve 7 million tourists? arrivals in 2008 and offering at least 100 events. The targets are foreign tourists. To reach the target ?Culture and Tourism Minister ? prepare the budget that will use to promote this program in domestic and international advertising blitz.
But the problem is government seems to be individually to this program by Culture and Tourism Department they set the program but they did not involve Tour Agents who more competitive in this part. Believe or not, as long as we know Tour Agents already help government to earn billion US$ for the country the government seems to be optimistic and serious to this program but it different to the action. So many problems are still waiting to be solved.
First the preparations of this program are poor and seem to be hurry. The government did not prepare well the events in each province in Indonesia. They just took events that already prepare in government document. They did not prepare the society to welcome this program. Although the government gave the state that they already explain event extension to the society but they fact it did not happen. Just explain it does not work government have to introduce the
program directly to the society, we have to know that this program is depending on society, how the people prepare the events, how they prepare themselves to welcome the tourists. The other things that also important are Hotel, Transportation, Hospital, etc. government also have to prepare this.
Second is about language problem, it will be very embarrassing if to promote this program we use a very poor structure form. For an example that was happened in the slogan. It was grammatically incorrect in the slogan which as a media to promote this program to tourist. It problems got many comments from linguist; they think that the government has to think about grammatical order to arrange any kinds of promotion wording. To this program again government seems to hurry, government should involve the linguists to form promotion wording for this program. The problem also happened in web site. Visit Indonesia Year 2008 web side had poor grammatical to form the information. Also the information is poor, they should design the web side as complete as they can and also it should provide the information in details of each event and province. The web side also should interest so its can influence the tourist to visit Indonesia.
Malaysia who is our neighbor has the same program for long time ago. They success to drug the tourists to visit Malaysia. If we compare Malaysia to Indonesia, our country is rich in culture and tourism object. We have several of culture and tradition. We have various culture of each part of Indonesia that should we acquaint. By Visit Indonesia year 2008 program we have a chance to introduce our various cultures to the world it is one of ways to keep our cultures from hijacking of other countries.
As we know Malaysia had stole our traditional dance (Reok dance from Ponorogo) song (Rasa Sayang e?) and introduced its as their traditional dance and welcome song for their tourism program. From this problem we should learn that we have to preserve our culture. To this program government and society have to sit together and prepare the events for support this program.
One of selected place to be visit is East Nusa Tenggara. It consists of 556 island and four main islands. They are Flores, Sumba, Timor, Alor, which is shorten to FLOBAMORA and has been familiar as one of the names of East Nusa Tenggara. The other name given to East Nusa Tenggara is ?Nusa Cendana? or the sandalwood island. In addition, there are 524 uninhabited islands. East Nusa Tenggara has several of culture that can we acquainted to the world such as Flores (in Portuguese mean is Flower) is long island between Sumbawa and Timor is crowded with volcanoes and mountains with individual language and traditional. Also famous with the procession held in Larantura and beautiful Kelimutu Lake in Ende regency.
Sumba is famous for its horse. Pasola is one event in this place where hundreds or horsemen fling spread at each other in an annual ritual. Pajura or traditional boxing and traditional dancing. East Nusa Tenggara also famous with the arts, handicrafts, culture assets and the particularly the textile waving.
Textile waving is a product of culture in East Nusa Tenggara. Each part in it province have different textile waving style and motive. On other words we can say that the textile waving of each village show as their identity and character.
There are just a few of East Nusa Tenggara cultures and events that we mention before. There are so many other cultures and events that should we acquaint. To support this program we have to prepare the events as well as we can and more interesting. Government also need to arrange and prepare well the society and events. The Culture and Tourism Department must have a definite schedule to each event by coordinate with the society who is the organizer the events. It also has to acquaint the tourism objects, archipelagoes, etc. ad we know Indonesia have a lot of beautiful tourism object, unique archipelagoes, and culture assets.
By having good cooperation between government and society, we hope that this program could be success. It does not only help to reach government target and to earn billion US$ to the country but it also help us to keep our culture by acquainting it to the world.
Beside all of this matter Indonesia really offer great opportunity to you who like take vacation. A thousands culture is waiting for you, which one of them is fomous Bali island and more.
